would like to take on my first dedicated server (windows) and am wondering about the processor.

choice between 1.8g celeron (512m RAM) and 3g P4 (1gig RAM)

the main reasons of going dedicated is i'd like to impliment isapi_rewrite (or similiar) and do some more intensive processing of pages than currently (use more includes, more text manipulations) and extra db calls (although will still be using a shared sqlserver)

currently i have 2 sites that i'll be serving from the server with combined user pageviews of 500,000 a Month (plus robots views)

the pageviews are spread throughout the day due to euro and american traffic.

any opinion as to wether the celeron is upto the job, i assume it is.

also, prob would want to run a few low traffic sites as well, but don't want to use my shared sqlserver space for them, any views on using mysql on windows?

I use mySQL on windows, no problem.

Also, go with P4.

Definitely go for the P4. 1.8 GHz is a little low, and the Celeron is designed to be low cost rather than high performance.

The combo of P4 + extra RAM will make quite a difference in performance.
