OK, does anyone know of a cms system that will let me just "plug-in" to a standard page template?

I've looked at Mambo and PHPNuke, and these, as well as many others, all seem to utilise the same structuring...Hdr, 3 Col, Ftr.

I am looking for something that I can just apply the code to the back end of the site so that it calls the relevant details...... or that will

have advanced features for utilising a page template and generating pages on the fly depending on what is called for!

Yet I am having no luck.
Am I asking too much?

Any Ideas?

If you check some of the third-party templates for Mambo, you may find some more to your liking - there's no inherent reason for a three-column layout. You could modify or write your own template, too, but I'm guessing you'll find a good starting point. The mambo site shows some examples of designs done by others, too, and some of them are completely unrecognizable as being Mambo-based.

PHPWCMS is constantly amazing me... daily. As flexible as it is, I am impressed with it's stability- even in the DEV version I run (1.2.3). It's available on sourceforge, but you can read about it many places. Something to keep in mind is, while you give it a once over: remember that until you spend a good 4-5 hours learning it's unique templating capabilities, you'll likely not have an appreciation for what it can do.

I've tried the phpnukes and postnukes, a few other cms'es and am extremely glad I stumbled onto this one. I will update my profile to reflect my current phpwcms project site, that way you can see a little sample. Of course the phpwcms forum will have literally hundreds of "proud of my site" posts from people all over. That will *really* show you some diversity.

The only drawback I have found is that it has a lot of support from germany... I don't sprechen ze deutch (see, that's probably even misspelled!). So if you speak german, you're already a step ahead. *wink*

Good luck on your quest. Let me know if I can answer any questions for you. Oh and by the way- You might see my ecommerce component if you visit my site in my profile... That is NOT phpwcms, it is a hybrid xcart deployment that i've integrated with phpwcms.

Best Regards-

I love Coranto, which is written as a news management script but can easily handle any sort of content. Its written in Perl and is free. It allows any templates/multiple templates very easily and is extremely customisable - it seperates templates, styles used within the templates and content completely.

It does take a little time to get your head around, but it's a nice system.

Look at cmsmatrix.org This is a site that will alow you to look at different CMS systems and compare features. I use Drupal.org which has many different themes and templates to choose from. Another good one is Wordpress
