Hi

I've got a website which was originally created with Frontpage a long time ago and I need to move it from the current server to a new one. My problem is all the links within the site would take a good part of the century to change to reflect the new server. Is there any software available to automatically update all these links within my site? I'm sure I've seen something online before but I just can't seem to find it anywhere.

Cheers

How do the links need to change? If its the same with every link (ie, from [somesite.com...] to [mysite.com...] any decent search and replace program will do the trick (even that within FP or DW!)

Basically the whole server address needs to change to the new server address but the page name stays the same.

I didn't relise you could do this with frontpage. Would that mean I would have to change the links on every page using this method? If so, it's still not practical. The site is too big and there are more than one on different topics with their own pages.

No problem..

Go to the Edit Menu, Search & Replace.

The idea is that you search through every file in a folder, and change XXX in a certain text string (so www.site.com/mufolder/page.htm, you search for www.sitecom./myfolder and replace it with www.mynewsite.com).

Experiment before you do it, and make sure you have a back up!

Thanks Sanenet! You've just saved me hours of work :)

I just tried it with frontpage and it was instant! Thanks again.
