Detecting country by IP address

Is there some free database overview of IP's matched to country? How would one easily set up some kind of reporting system for this using php or something?

Look for IP-to-country or geoIPcountry

Install "awstats" ( usually pre installed anyway ..just need to switch it on on your server ) ..it comes with a geo reporting thingy built in so it will do all that for you ..
