Change ip but not content, file names or whois data. You don't need to do anything, the engines will pick everything up as normal. Its always a scary time and things can go wrong but just do it and good luck. We have moved many ip's without a problem, but as I suggested, keep everything else stable.
When I changed server 2 years ago I posted on the homepage the IP of the new server. Since that day the SE's have indexed some of the site via IP.
Not only that, other sites decided to link via the IP address and not the URL, and some users had bookmarked the IP address page.
When the IP changes, those indexed pages and links on other sites will not be valid so best to check who has you indexed, and who is linking to you via IP.
