How do you test a mail server?

I'm trying to setup my first email server, and I was wondering if there are any tools out there that will test an email server in order to troubleshoot it, somewhat like www.dnsreport.com.

What are you needing to test it for? Have you also checked out www.dnsstuff.com?

You can check that your server can't be used as a spam relay with abuse.net's open relay tester [abuse.net].

Sorry it took so long to get back to you, it's been a very busy weekend.

I'm getting errors, and I'm not sure of the cause. I've got the dns stuff under control, I was just wondering if there are any tools that will connect to my email server and tell me where the problem lies.

And thanks for that link.
