I run a windows 2000 server with merak mail server. More and more (about once a day) I get a piece of mail that fouls up the system and prevents all mail on that domain from being received. The mail in question contains a virus, but the mail server has no problem with viruses (and norton removes them later so it's not an infection problem) most of the time - just ocassional ones seems to get caught up. Anyone know how I can stop this happening, as I have to go to the server and manually remove them when it happens!

why not run an anti virus program on the server and burn the messages there? or is there already one installed?

there is - but I found the solution anyway, merak has released a filter for how to block those messages which apparently exploit a hole in outlook
