I know naming web hosts is not allowed in this forum, but probably hosting service provider for source code is differnt? I don't think any of the source code hosting services offer affiliate/referral commission, so there is no conflict of interest for the poster.

I have team of developers in different geographies and I want to manage the project. Visual Source Safe is becoming a problem, so I want to try CVS / SVN.

1. Any negative experiences with CVS / SVN?
2. I am planning to get hosting service from someone instead of hosting my own CVS server and keeping track of backups. So, if its okay to post it here, any recommendations?

Thanks
Saurabh

the people who run sourceforge have a commercial package. i'd guess that they also have a hosted version of their commercial package too. can't remember the name but you can find out about it via a link at sourceforge.

Depends how much source code you are talking about. A few megs? A few hundred gigs? How sensitive is the code? Do you really want it off site?

Chances are if you are comfortable with it being off site a regular hosting package or dedicated server is what you will end up wanting.

Thanks for the inputs guys.. I have taken the free account of cvsdude and now I am testing that. If that looks okay, I will get the upgraded plan.
I think hosted the code offsite is okay becaue it should improve productivity when I am working with different developers across the world (rentacoder guys).
