Redirect a URL at the domain registrar level?

Hi,

My client wants their old domain to point to their new one. Their new host doesn't have any sort of option to add a second domain name to their DNS records. I'm sure this is very elementary, but can I get the old domain to point to the new one with just the DNS record the domain registrar has, without having it attached to any server from which I could redirect it?

In case I'm being unclear, the old domain name isn't hosted anywhere. And the new domain's host will only handle one domain name.

Thanks for any help,
g.

BulkRegister.com offers this option for freee to its members for all domain names registered with it. I've not done it, so I don't know the details, but I think it involves changing the DNS from the registrar's default DNS and pointing to the target domain name. And one can arrange whether the target site displays its own domain name or that of the pointing domain name in the brower address field. Consider visiting BR's site and reading up on what they offer. I can only generalize.

Thanks for the tip, but they've already registered both domains, so I'm not sure that would be an option for them. But their registrar does offer a tool to edit the DNS record - I'm just not sure if it can do what I want and, if so, how.

Garann, I don't think you need to be a member of BulkRegister to read up on the features they offer. I think the discussion is open. BR uses it as a marketing tool to entice memberships. So you may want to take a look at it.
