In client/server computing, the client often needs to know what
machine the server is, for example, what the IP address and what
the port to talk to. In many systems, one has to manually enter in
the name of the server. Describe a way for a client to find a
server without having to have someone manually configure it. Be
sure to list both the advantages and disadvantages of the approach
you describe

A book could be written about your question and still not provide you the information you seek... :)

Also, a tip, your post struck me as somewhat demanding. Your post sounds like an essay question on a final exam! ;) The folks at this board are friendly and helpful but they're not here for your convenience. Perhaps I read you incorrectly, perhaps there are language or cultural differences. No offense or disrespect to you is intended, I'm just offering friendly advice. OK? :)

Actually, if you look at his other posts, I think they are questions from a final exam. So wait about four weeks and if he is still interested, you can post the answer. By that time he should have failed the class.

Thanks Xoc. He posted a series of questions and some duplicates over the weekend and the "test questions" idea didn't become apparent until the third or fourth post.
