Default page issues

How to kill the old domain root file?

Hello All:

When we launched our site the root file or index file of the domain was Default.htm and then we changed our hosting provider and renamed the root file to index.html

We also added the page in robots.txt but still we see the page under most visited pages section with high number of page views.

How can we kill this Default.htm page?

Please Advice!

Set a 301 permanent redirect from Default.htm to index.html
