Microsoft taking over the world?

OK so maybe they haven't taken over the world, but this is really weird. Has anyone noticed that if you put [*...] (* being anything, I think) in your browser it redirects you to microsoft's website? Very strange, does anybody have an explanation? It's a mystery to me!

Google returns microsoft.com as the first match for http, and the "feeling lucky" feature redirects to the first result.

Aha, I think we figured it out. It gives an error in IE but Firefox is the one that takes me to microsoft.com, and the reason is that it must be automatically searching google and taking me to the first result. That must be the answer...
