I installed Norton Internet Security 2004 on my home computer.

Also, on the web server for my site, I had installed an htaccess file that prevented linking to images from other sites. The reason I did this was people were linking to avatars and using up our bandwidth.

It seems that htaccess + Norton Internet Security 2004 = all images do not display. I've seen this on other computers as well.

Has anybody had this problem?

I've turned off the image link blocking in the htaccess at least temporarily. Is there something I might have done wrong?

Are you checking the referrer with your .htaccess? Norton Internet Security 2004 blocks all referrers by default, so you (and all the users of NIS) won't get to see your images if you use this method.

NIS is a terribly disruptive program, and I would never want it installed on amy machine I own. It runs each page requested through an invisible proxy server, removing adverts, inserting Javascript code to block popups, and a load of other stuff I don't know about.

Norton blocks some images dependent on the image size. This isn't your problem if all images are blocked, but might be if only some of them are.

That Norton Internet Security program has caused many more problems than it catches.

I've had to disable it on so many computers, we just stopped installing it.

I'd recommend uninstalling it and doing a different firewall. A hardware solution would be better - the Linksys routers are inexpensive and very good.
