I just switched to a dedicated server, new IP's etc.

After 4 days half my traffic is still going to the new server and googlebot is swarming over the old server. Should I be concerned about this or just hang in there until a full migration is finished. I would like to let Google know that the site has moved and am a little concerned but these sites have 50,000 pages so a page by page redirect isn't feasable. Does Google really care what the IP is, mixed readings on this one.

Thanks

I just completed a switch as well, and the propagation was pretty quick.

I think you can only wait until it's finished unless you have access to the name server and can modify the TTL (most don't allow general access to this).

It's funny because my www.example.com name has propagated but the example.com hasn't (from my machine) yet a friend found just the opposite to be true!

Page redirects are always feasible -- if you can do them systematically. Look into mod_rewrite or similar.

If you're having DNS problems, you just have to wait for the changes to propagate. Next time you do a switch, set the TTL to a lower value as the first thing you do, so the propagation moves quicker (could be a matter of hours instead of days) when you're ready.

Thanks all,

Still propagating after 5 or 6 days, very slow.

I decided to leave the old server running until the end of the month while this all takes place. Is there a danger that Google may see this as duplicate sites?
