Is DNS the culprit?

We have a .info website on a dedicated/collocated server.

Somtimes we get complaints from customers saying that they could not connect to our server the 1st time they type in the url. But once they try again everything works without any problems. We have been chasing this random bug for nearly an year now, but could not narrow it down to anything.

My primary suspect is DNS. Has anybody here experinced website performance issues related to DNS? Also are there any DNS performance / debug tools out there?

I doubt DNS is the problem. Usually DNS problems are short term issues.

Have you checked with the NOC at your Co-Lo company to verify that the DNS records for your domain, have been properly updated in their DNS servers, and broadcast?

If the above checks out, then DNS issues usually only affect small ISP's that don't update their local DNS information on regular cycles.

I used several tools to get more information my my DNS records and noticed the following "no glue at a parent server". What does this mean?
