Shared hosting and speed

I have a shared hosting account, and my pages load slower than before. I have static pages linked to a Miva store. I've had the account for 4 years.

What could be some of the reasons behind the slow loading times? Is the server getting overloaded with other sites? would moving to a vps account help?

I would appreciate any input.

I think the answer could be all of the above.

If you can afford it, a VPS or even a dedicated server would be good.
