I have been using MS FrontPage for the last couple of years (after it got to tedious to maintain 50+ domains with an ASCII editor).
With the success of my sites and a taffic volume cap from my provider, I became more concerned about streamlining my websites.
I have my images optimized and check my HTML for unnecessary code.
Upon running Webalizer on my sites I noticed that files show up at being most often requested that, on the surface, have noting to do with my pages.
I know FP is doing a lot of maintenance for me, but that might be more then I want or need.
Here now my question:
Is there a report that compares the leading HTML tools and looks at the efficiency of the code they generate?

Dont know if there is, would be ineresting to see.

I used FP for a couple years and switched to DW for those exact reasons that you described! FP is really really bad at screwing HTML up for you. Dont do it man!! Nooo, switch to something else!

Although it's not a full-blown review, this page [dantobias.com] does an interesting job of listing many problems and the editors that create them.

The author feels that DreamWeaver is going a bit downhill, as they try too hard to create a program that does everything for you. But still, as far as WYSIWYGs go, he thinks it's the best.
