Domain on Status:CLIENT HOLD but not expired

[Sorry, posted this in another forum before realising this one is more appropriate]

We have a domain registered and hosted by Tucows which has gone offline and is showing state "Status:CLIENT HOLD". The domain does not expire until "Expiration Date:12-Oct-2007 16:51:20 UTC "
Can anyone tell me why the domain may be on HOLD?

We have emailed Tucows and are awaiting their response but if there's anything we can do, I'll do it!

Client jumping up and down, so any speedy response from anyone here would be appreciated. :)

Now sorted - domain hadn't been renewed before initial expiry date - apparently the registry expiration date is extended by a year even when the domain isn't renewed, to account for redemption periods, grace periods but still gets suspended. :(

Anyone know how long it wil take to come back online once renewed?
