Irc server -Windows 2003 or Linux?

Which server to choose for an irc server - windows 2003 or redhat linux

Hi,

I am looking to buy a dedicated server in the next day or so - It is to host a chat website and I am undecided of which dedicated server to buy. Linux or windows 2003.

I Understand it is a hugely debatable topic which server is best, but I would like your view of which server is most suitable at the job of being an irc server.

I have researched as much possible on this but I am still not convinced.

AFAIK, most, if not all of the large networks run derivations of BSD and Linux.
