Missing Pictures

Cuteftp Pro 1.0 pictures vanish!

I use Cute ftp, it's great and my pages look good. But there are a couple of pages I've uploaded then updated where the pictures have just gone, where are they? All pictures are on the server, all links to them are okay.

I just can't see some of the pictures on the page online.

When I upload the webpage the html file looks smaller than the one on my hard drive, but doesn't increase if I update and upload the file again. I've even deleted the file and resent it. Still no joy.

when you upload the page you need to upload all the files (I know you know this) :) but it is very easy to upload a page and not a corosponding image file, Have a coffee then double check. Also make sure the paths to the files are spot on. If you have for example...
image src = "www.foo.com/image.jpg"
try replacing it with...
image src = "http://www.foo.com/image.jpg"

Is the transfer mode set to ASCII or Binary (images) or Auto detect. Sometimes this will foul things up.

It only happens to SOME jpg some gif files but not all jpg's & gif's.

The files are all there, I can see them in Cuteftp. The paths are fine, I've looked at the code and viewed the page offline in IE.

Why do the pictures show once then disapear later? I haven't altered the code for the pictures, just added some info on the end of the webpage.

This is happening with two of my WebPages.

(by the way I don't use www.* or [*...] my paths point to the coresponding folder on the server, not to webpages. This has worked for years, up untill now.)

This makes me think that it might have something to do with my ISP, I use free space given to me with my new subscription to Blueyonder. My old address was with Freeserve, no problems there. Only since I've moved to Telewest.

ASCII for text. Binary for Graphics and Auto to let Cute decide.

I use WS_FTP and have the transfer mode set at Binary for all files. But perhaps it's better to use Auto.

What is the filename of these images. Recently i had a problem with CuteFTP when the files names were date and time like.

Filenames are case sensitive, though some servers let you get away with a mismatch (M$). Maybe you moved to a host that doesn't allow the mismatch.

Make sure that in your code, and for your actual filenames, you make everything all in lower case.

I HAVE HAD TO RENAME ALL MY MISSING PICTURES.

It wasn't enough that I delete a letter or two from the name, I had to change the filenames completely.

Still don't know why, but it worked.

I promise you that the file names were ok before, although the evidence proves me wrong!

I have come to the conclusion that it is to do with Telewest Broadband (?)
