looking for Spanish Translation software

does anyone know of a software that has the following specs

- Programmable interface
- Runs on Unix
- Can take in variable length string and translate it in a automatable process
- Scriptable or fully programmable
- Does not need root level access to install

A search for something like "translation software spanish linux" could help. But please remind that you probably won't find really sophisticated software. Linux/unix software is commonly built from freely available source code files.

Those companies that develop powerful translation software won't expose their algorithms by distributing their application in source code form. Therefore most good automated translation software is distributed as Windows binaries which--beside the closed source distribution--also gives the developer the broadest customer base.
