I went into the nameserver management portion of my registrar and entered the following:
Server Hostname:
ns1.widgets.com
Server Netaddress:
123.456.789.1
widgets.com is my existing domain. I'm hoping the ns1 as a valid entry? When this change propegates I should be able to enter ns1.widgets.com as the DNS for the domains on my reseller account and all should be fine right?
It's been a 1.5 day and I still can't ping ns1.widgets.com
Thanks,
Rich
I bought a new domain name Thursday and set up the nameserver addresses. Today, it began to resolve. It may not resolve for people in other parts of the world for a few more days. It can take up to a week for DNS records to propagate to all of the DNS servers worldwide.
If you gave your registrar the right info, take a break and relax! ;) It'll happen.
My concern is that I pulled the ns1 out of the air and I was hoping that in the router tables it would resolve
ns1.mydomain.com --> 123.456.789.1
