I've just been looking through my websites log files and it seems that i get alot of "502 Bad Gateway" i get around 500 of them per day. It is very worrying to see such an amount of this type of error. Can anyone please explain how I can possibly be getting this many errors? and what exactly a 502 Bad Gateway is. I've looked around but i keep finding techo language definations.

I have a cloaked site using php that displays one version of my site to robots and another to normal visitors. Could this cause such errors?

i would really appreciate advice on this.

cheers

quoting from [w3.org...]

10.5.3 502 Bad Gateway
The server, while acting as a gateway or proxy, received an invalid response from the upstream server it accessed in attempting to fulfill the request.

seems that someone is attempting to use your server as a gateway or proxy machine... what do the requests actually look like? please post a couple of the raw lines from the log if you can... otherwise, post as much info as you have from the logs... make sure you widgitize them ;)
