Hi there,

up to now, I created all our sites (less than 10) with the NetObjects Authoring Server 2000 (NOAS). Even though the NOAS was (and is) a great tool to collaborate on small to medium sized sites, its development had stopped some 4 years ago. So it's horribly outdated and limits my webteam more and more each day. We're building hoosk around it, tweaking the internal workflow of the NOAS quite a lot - but the end is in sight.

The charming part of the NOAS was, that it makes no big differentiation between content and design: both is piped in an internal database so if needed, the design templates could be easily changed for single pages.

I did a quick makrket scan on CMS' and it seems they all divide pretty sharp between content and design. Up to know, I found no package that offers all-in-one just like the NOAS did.

There's no need to complain or mourn: a new CMS needs to b implemented the sooner the better. Anybody here who has some advise? We have fairly good technical knowledge here, all our Internet-Servers run on Linux so a Linux-based CMS would be nice (though not mandatory). Open Source preferred - otherwise the cost would be a significant factor. I had a look at typo3 - it seems powerful but I'm not yet hooked to it.

Apart from the CMS: what design module would you prefer (no, I do NOT intend to write the code by hand). I had a look at GoLive (which is available pretty cheap) and even though I prefer Adobe products compared to Macromedia I'm not yet hooked to GoLive too.

ANY advise on the choice of products, any Do's and Dont's would be appreciated!

Thanks!

No personal experiences to share but here's a few hopefully helpful resources shamelessly copied from another recent discussion:
