Hi all,

Not sure this is the right forum...

Can I use a <meta HTTP-EQUIV> to change the http header of a page?
And if so, what should it look like?

It's a custom 404 page but the ISP sends it as "HTTP/1.1 302 Found". I don't have access to the settings, only to the html page itself.

Thanks!

Anyone?

Any other ways?

Thanks!

I'm uncertain as to whether this will work but I doubt it will. I believe server headers are appended by the server independent of the content served.

It should be easy to test for using Brett's server header checker [webmasterworld.com]. Let us know what you find out!

HitProf,

Your method will not work. The only way to do this is to either change the settings in the web server package (like IIS) or to use server side code like (ASP or PHP).

Hi all,

Thanks for the suggestions. It took me 4 days but I've finally convinced the hosting company to change the HTTP headers. They are a genuine 404 now!

Pfew...

Thanks again.
