Good Afternoon,
I am currently working on a project trying to install a Web Server on a Windows 98 Machine. My current config is Apache 1.3.23 on a Windows 98 SE Machine. I am attempting a ColdFusion MX install on this machine. According to Macromedia [macromedia.com...]

The only webserver that will work with ColdFusion on a Win98 Machine is IIS 4.0. I went hunting for for IIS and came up with it located on NT Server Service Pack 3.0. I Downloaded SP3 and was unable to install it on the 98 Machine due to incompatibility issues. Does anyone know of a place that the StandAlone Version of IIS 4.0 can be downloaded? I checked out MS's page and they pointed me to a place where Service Pack 3.0 Can Be Downloaded file by file for a Win95 Machine. When Running this pack, it came up with the installation of Personal Web Server. Not quite what Im looking for..... Any Suggestions?

Hi, I don't think you can install IIS on W98. IIS requires the running of services, and W98 doesn't support that.

AFAIK the only MS webserver you can install on 98 is PWS.

You can install Apache/xitami on 98, but I don't think they will support ColdFusion.

Also, your link looked like it was pointing to documentation for JRun, not ColdFusion.

Thanks txbakers,
Yea I know about the JRUN but it was what came up when I did a Search for the Error Message my wsconfig.log file was giving me. Basically saying "Apache web server is not supported on Windows 98" When trying to configure Apache for ColdFusion MX in Windows Step at the Beginning of the setup process.... In a Windows environment preferably, (simply because I do not know Unix) what do you recommend the box should be configured as to run ColdFusion MX?

Would a 2K Box with IIS 5.0 Be the Most Ideal?

If you need IIS then Yes. But I don't work with CF, so I'm only guessing.

Yes, Win2k with IIS 5.0 is best environment. Hopefully ColdFusion has improved their application since 4.0 - the installations always gave me problems.
