Back up hosting

How do I host the same web site at two locations?

Once in a while, the server where one of my site's is hosted goes down. I'm looking for another web host where I can host a back up of my web site. I would like to configure my domain to resolve to host no 2 in case host no 1 is down, so that all the visitors including search engine bots who visit find the site even if my host's server goes down. How do I do this, could someone guide me?
