SEO efficient back-end systems

What do you use and is it any good?

We've built our last couple of sites using PostNuke which in general is a pretty good system. I like the flexibility it offers, the news/article engine, simplicity of integrating a phpBB forum engine etc.

I feel it has the following shortcomings:-

1. It titles every page on the site the same.
2. Meta-Tag generation is next to useless for the same reason. It has a "dynamic" option which just takes *all* the text out of the page and stuffs it into the meta-tags!
3. Session ID's and general dynamic URL issues.

We "fixed" shortcoming no. 1 with some hand-coded changes.

No. 3 can be resolved with mod_rewrite (although in the event we ended up coding something ourselves which also allowed us to put some keywords in the static URL's.

No. 2 we're working on. I appreciate that not all search engines use meta data anymore, but if it's in there it may as well be hand editable.

Because we do not do this full-time, we cannot afford to spend hours hand-coding our own custom built SEO'd backend package. I'm sure a lot of you are in the same boat.

So, I'm interested in hearing what you use and what you think of it, or if you just hand code everything.

We've almost got PostNuke working the way we want and SEO'd up, but I'd look to change if there's something around which makes life easier.

Sorry if I've posted on the wrong forum, this seemed the closest bet to me.

There may be something out there but I'd bet against finding one for free. If you're this close with PostNuke why stray? You'll have answered all of the issues you list and you'll also have learned how it's built. Makes little sense to me to change to another package and lose the headway you've made. Unless of course you find that 'perfect' fit - rare but possible.

Actually, I'm also partly curious as to what is out there and how it may be better. Also thought it might give me some ideas to implement into our custom tailored PostNuke engine.
