Would you recommend a way to transfer a large number of files from one computer to another? I know of IntelliMover but it is not cheap.

Rsync is good, and free.

Pull the drive out of the old one and put it in the new one. If the goal is to upgrade to a new drive then do a diskcopy after you move it and remove the old drive when you're done. Providing of course the equipment is compatable and the boxes can be offline for a few minutes.

Could the machines be networked together? Then you just share a folder on each and transfer them quickly (and for free!) from one machine to another.
