dns/domain redirection

Hopefully someone will help me fix this ongoing problem.
I have a domain that I have someone else administering the dns. He has forwarded the dns of the domain to a subdirectory of another domain.
When users go to www."2nd domain".com they get redirected to www."1st domain".com/2nd domain/index.htm. The url does read www.2nd domain.com. The problem is when the visitor clicks on a link the url now shows that it is sharing hosting space. ie:www.ist domain.com/2nd domain/contacts.htm.

Can anyone tell me what my DNS guy is doing wrong?Is there something I need to do? Does it have to do with my hosting company? Please help. Thank you.

Your question is not very clear to me jtoos, sorry! :) Is it related to your recent post at [webmasterworld.com...] Are we talking about a IIS server?

It seems you're trying to make a subdomain respond like a primary domain. If so, I'm reasonably confident that you'll need your hosting company's help in reconfiguring you account.

Sounds like you're asking how to hide the page and show in the url only the text you want.

One way to do this is to use your dns and have it set to forward and hide the url, as in: no matter what page they're on and no matter where it's hosted or the actual link url, show www.2ndDomain.com. Only the DNS host can do this. If your dns guy doesn't know how to you can switch your domain to any domain register (I use registerfly.com) who includes free dns hosting with the ability to forward and hide urls.

One problem you'll have (as I understand it) is that search engines may ignore or low-rank 'cloaked' urls.

You'll be better off just registering another top-level home page in your web server.

Midas...what did you mean by "skip the cloaked comment"? Do you prefer using the Frameset methods to achieve what I am trying to do?
