Anyone know whats wrong?
My Wife and I send mail from Outlook on the same PC. So that we can 'send from' different email addresses I have setup two accounts. Both accounts use the same pop and smtp (ISP). With Outlook on win98 there was a nice little box to tick on accounts to not check the account on 'Send and Receive'. With Outlook on XP I don't see that box, so on 'Send and Receive' Outlook is checking the same mail box twice! I just deleted one of the accounts and the problem stopped. - BUT I want two 'send from' addresses!
So - how do you have more than one 'send from' address on Outlook (XP) if both addresses use the same pop box?
From what I understand what you want to do is
1) Have multiple email accounts
2) Want ability to send emails using seperate accounts.
I myself use outlook for few email address and it works like a charm. But there are two solution to solve your problem.
Under same Identity.
Just open up "Email Accounts" options and setup as many accounts as you want, and use appropriate incoming and outgoing mail servers for them. Now whoever is using email more, make that persons email address as default for sending out new mails. Now lets say you are using email more then you wife, but she prefers to send her emails using her email account, then while composing email, there is a button on the toolbar that reads Accounts, when one clicks on it, it will display a drowdown menu with all the email addresses in "Email Account Options", all what she needs to do is just select here email address and she can be sure that she is sending out email using her account.
But the drawback for using different emails under same identity is, all the emails will be shared or more like mixed, and it might not be very easy to you to manage your emails if you are receiving too many emails.
Under Different Identity
For two people using same outlook xp, I would recommend this method. So if you are using email more, make your identity default and create only your email account, and for your wife create a new identity and create her account there. So in this way, your emails will be seperate from her, and you will not be downloading her emails while checking your emails and same thing with her. All what she needs to do is just switch identity and she will see her own set of folders and email.
Hope this helps :)

- Two people with one ISP mail box (pop & SMTP).
- No problem emails all arrive in same Outlook inbox as its for the same business.
- I need a 2nd account (in Outlook) so that a 2nd 'from address' can be selected when sending an email.
- A 2nd account requires pop and smtp details (in this case - the same).
- A 2nd account in XP Outlook does not provide option to not check pop on 'send and receive' - it did on Win98 Outlook.
- So 2 'send from' address options means the pop box is checked twice on 'send and receive' = duplicates of all emails.
I don't want to change Identity on the PC every time. I want everything running on the one (simple) identity.
> then while composing email, there is a button on the toolbar that reads Acconts, when one clicks on it, it will display a drowdown menu with all the email addresses.
Yep - no problem there. The problem is that this creates a double check on the pop box because the two accounts work on the same ISP account. This wasn't a problem on Outlook with win98.
Anyone else have this problem?
Anyone know how I can stop Outlook checking the 2nd pop box (cos its the same one)?
