Hello,

I would really appreciate some help regarding the 301 redirections on a site.

I have done a 301 redirect earlier in which all the urls of 1 folder of the site were redirected to the main page of the site. That was pretty simple coz there was only a single destination URL. But now I wish to give individual pair of source and destination URL's. How do I give this? I am not able to figure this out

I have around 200 set of URLs, e.g
source1 -> destination1
source2 -> destination2
.
.
.

there are such 200 pair of URL's. Please help me. Also, would this put additional load on the server?

Thanks in advance.

What kind of server are you using?

If you're running Linux, you're probably using the Apache server. This Intro to Rewriting URLs [webmasterworld.com] should help you get started.

Hi Dave,

Just wanted to inform you that I finished the redirection this morning, and it went perfectly smooth. Thank you, once again. Without your dynamite :) post, I would have been nowhere. You guys definitely rock. :)

I'm very pleased to hear that the Intro helped! Several of us put considerable time into it and it's rewarding to know people are finding it useful.
