Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has ever set up printing over the internet. I have a computer acting as a web-server running IIS attached to it is a Printer. I wanted to print to it, wondering if this is possible and how to do it. I was reading about IPP (Internet Printing Protocol), but I dont know if that is what I need.

Any help appreciated. Thanks

Hi Paul. I have a web based application that can print forms and labels over the web. Most of the time it is successful, but a lot depends on the printer the client is attached to.

I found that desk jets handle margins very differently from laser printers. Also, if a person has messed with their font size settings this can wreak havoc with the print out.

Mailing labels were a big challenge, but I beat it by using absolute positions with CSS.

I've never heard of the Internet Printing Protocol.

If there was a better way to send documents over the internet for printing, I would use them.

I did find that when users who were having trouble printing directly from the browser would download the page to PDF first, it would be much more accurate.
