I need to find some automated site auditing software that in particular can picked up dropped images. Anyone know of anything I could use. Please sticky

if you mean drag and drop under windows, there are a lot. take dreamweaver for example.

If DreamWeaver is too pricy, you might give Web Link Validator a try. It's got a free trial version available. I don't remember if it does images as well as urls, though. Sorry. :(

Xenu link checker. It's free and very small. No spyware at all. Absolutely great!

The developer has an ax to grind against the Church of Scientology (or some other cult, can't remember which). He claims that they pummelled his girlfriend to death. In the readme, he even has links to her autopsy pictures.

Regardless, it's a fabulous program. Probably the best there is.

Cheers I'll have a look at XENA. We have a large site with SQL backend and notice every now and then that images are dropped in articles, I want to remotely audit site for orphaned images rather than downloading a local copy and using dreamweaver etc. Yes dreamweaver does exactly what I want, but not on remote database driven sites.
