Hi All...

Our Secure Server certificate (40bit) is up for renewal and I have been offered a Global Server certificate (128bit) for a few hundred pounds more..

Is there much difference here in the real world - we have an auction site and take users cc details...

Also, i hear about some browser issues with the 128bit system?

Cheers

I have no experience with certificate servers but I am offered "up sells" more often than I'd like. ;) Have you had any security problems with the Secure Server certificate? Any stolen CC numbers? If not, why upgrade?

Things that I've read make me think that it's much easier to hack into a system and steal secure info from the system's files, than it is to unencrypt the encrypted bit stream that a secure certificate provides. Until that changes, 40 bits is enough I think.

thanks for the reply...

No, we've never had any problems as far as we are aware.

You might be right in sticking for what we have for at another year at least...
