First this is what happened.
I had a site hosted by, yes, Geocities. The url was www.geocities.com/~name.
Later Geocities changed it to www.geocities.com/name.geo.
Short of having to contact webmasters who appearantly don't check pages they link to, to notify them that a page url was changed. Is there any way to do a redirect when I have no control of the first url? Or is this something I would have to ask geocities to do?
Thanks

Unfortunately, asking Geocities is the only way to implement the redirect you want. A redirect can only redirect FROM "where you are" (www.geocities.com/~name) TO "where you want to go" (www.geocities.com/name.geo).

I was hoping I didn't have to go there. Those people are hard to reach, by any means. Not that I wouldn't try. But I feel like it would be beating a dead horse.
Thanks to you also Bradley.
I've done that already.
We learn as we go along. In essence we all have to creep before we walk. What I know now, I can only hope I can give learned experience to those who are only beginning to crawl in this field.
Thanks a million to all. On this Thanksgiving period I wish all of you and yours the best. Saying thanks mean so much when you truly have thanks to give to experts and reliable ones such as yourselves.
