.co.uk IPSTAG - Do you know anything about them?

I have a bit of a problem that is causing me lost sleep - so I really hope you can help please?

I run .co.uk website which has an IPSTAG

I had to change my webhost about a year ago to a new host based in the USA. The new host didn't support the IPSTAG and therefore I had to leave the IPSTAG with the old hosting company.

The new hosts have informed me that they are going to change the domain IP address in 6 days. I can not afford our site to go down.

Will that effort the IPSTAG? I don't know what information the old host has. Would the old host still control the name servers, IP address, or is all of that seprate from this IPSTAG

Please please help, as this is making me worrie...

Welcome to WebMasterWorld working_hard.

The IPSTAG indicates the company that is the registrants agent.

The IPSTAG holder for a domain controls the nameservers for the domain.

i.e. if the domain example.co.uk was under the IPSTAG EXAMPLE the company controlling the IPSTAG could change the nameserver for example.co.uk from 123.123.123.123 to 124.124.124.124.

This is the only change that they can do which affects where and how the domain is displayed.

There is no problem with having different companies holding IPS tag holders and name servers apart from the fact that the IPS tag holder will be in control over what the name servers are. So if those servers ar changed by you American host you will need to get your tag holder to make the changes.

There should be no technical problems in doing this though..

Am I right in thinking that the IPSTAG controls the name servers and doesn't effect the IP address of the my .co.uk domain.

So providing my USA hosts don't change name servers I don't need to worry about them changing the IP address of my domain?

Thats the way I understand it yes, the name servers will point to your new USA hosts and they will sort out the rest from there..
