It is interesting to note that because XML allows you to describe data using elements of your own creation it may become its own worst enemy through the creation of so many different ways to describe the same data. Think of the VHS and Beta war and multiply by a million and you'll get an idea of what could happen. This is why there is a need for some standardization within the XML community and the reason I'm posting this.
Obviously, the reason MathML came about is because no one had created a standard - until they did. So there are cases when creating your own ML is necessary. But for 99% of us - using one of the existing standards might be better. Which standard will become defacto remains to be seen.
