Multiple root directories on local machine?

I have a bunch of sites running on my local machine, but only one root.

I have win2k on my machine and I am running the server so that I can test all my websites. Lately I have been using absolute paths and this is difficult to do if you only have one root and each of the sites has there own live server account.

Is it possible to setup multiple roots for the local machine to allow each site to have it's area?

I have been reading some docs. on it but it seems a lttle over my head.

In Apache, this would be called a "virtual host" or "virtual server". If you're using Apache on Win2k, look for those terms in the docs at [httpd.apache.org...] to find directions on how to set it up. If you're using IIS, you'll have to wait for someone other than me, as I don't do windows.

Would anybody happen know some resources regarding stuff like this with regards to windows server besides the microsoft site?

Do you have the regular Win2k or the server version and do you have IIS installed?

I have win2k the developer version I guess, it came with operating system, and I do have IIS.

I think you can only do it with Win2k Server.
If you go into IIS and right click on your computer name, do you get an option to create a new website with a new home directory etc etc?

If so, I think you have Win2k server in which case you can do what you are asking but if not, I don't think there's anything you can do.

no I just get a few options and a new site isn't one of them. Thanks for the help!
