Form Verification & Dummy Proofing TO SLOW!

DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM?

We develop projects speedily and are very productive. However, productivity slows to a crawl and projects get delayed because of the enormous amount of time required to "dummy proof" and create form verification controls.

Our last project took 19 days to build, design and tech. However, it took 5 days to create "dummy proofing" and "form verification" controls. Ya know, things like correct email addresses, phone numbers, alpha-numeric text, etc.

I was wondering, are there any tools or automation scripts out there that can help us dummy proof and create form verification scripts quicker and easier? It makes me want to puke to see all of the time we waste implementing form controls --

PS: Sorry, we use ASP (not .NET) and Dreamweaver MX for all development. VBScript serverside. Currently we are using Server-Side validation but are open to Client-Side javascript.

Dummy proofing does take longer in general because users are dummies. When you write the main page, you know the logic, you know the pitfalls, and you just sit down and write it.

When you dummy proof, you need to think of all sorts of creative ways to break the program, and that takes more time.

Take dates. It's not enough to just check for if the field is blank. You need to check for syntax:

OR, are all of the above not April 5, but rather May 4?

So that will take time and there aren't any good scripts for that in Dreamweaver. There are scripts available which will get you started in the right direction though.

But it's a long process.
