Hi! My name is Sirish. I am an intermediate on the web. I want to create an internet radio station without much hassles, something like this. I drop by all the songs in a folder called music on my site and the script should be able to read them and play. It should display - Music Radio in the Real player adress bar. It should not play with the id3 tags. It must play in random.

Like that say I enter 200-300 Urls and the songs must play in random order. It should be be hands free. All the

I feel I am not clear.... I mean I have 200 songs on my server. I dint edit the id3 tags for them. I want to create a playlist where in I drop all these 200 songs and it must play in random. Thats it! Any ideas how to go about. I am not an expert. I really dont understand these Shoutcast streaming server, bla blah etc., Can any1 help me out..... plzzz

I have not worked with real player for a few years now but we used to use .smil files to configure the player and do all sorts of fancy stuff with it. It configured all of the various portions of the player, title, window size, syncing of feeds in different windows in the same player.

I did a quick search on google for - creating smil files

it looks like there are some good resources there.

Can .smil files do what I have asked for?

I think so but am not totally sure. They can at least do part of it. Who knows you may have to script the rest somehow. You will have to check out some resources to see if it is possible.

Mentioning ID3 tags suggests that you media files are MP3s and not RealMedia files. I'm not sure than a Real server is best suited for streaming MP3s, the trial version has a very low concurrent user limit, and the full version is not cheap. Why not look at Icecast or Shoutcast, which are open source MP3 streaming servers which will do want you're asking - at least on a Unix box. Be prepared for a steep learning curve though. Also suggest taking a look at Winamp...
