I'm looking at my laptop here and just can't quite figure out what's up. I'm weaning myself off of IE(again), and am working with Opera 605.

I set it up on my office PC, clean, without a hitch. And just to make sure I wasn't going crazy, I just logged in over the network to that desktop and confirmed, yes I can get cookies from and log into WebmasterWorld.

Now, here I sit at home, using IE to see just this site, as I can log into webhostingtalk just fine...

I'm set up: check, check, no check (first three options)

cookies enabled,
Display Received Cookies
accept from all servers

I got prompted from WHT, with lots of cookies, but nothing here. (OK, one time, I got a prompt, but nothing since then, and I've uninstalled, deleted directories and killed regkeys)

I've told it to pose as 3 different browsers, no change. I've reinstalled, No change. Also fails on www.excite.com, thats where I noticed it first(wanted to see what their site looked like in opera, I really use google).

What's up?

Any progress with this Slade? I'm a new Opera user too, far from an expert... My setup works with "Accept all cookies" instead of "Display received cookies."

I've been using Opera for month now to access WebmasterWorld. I've changed nothing at all but this morning I can't get here with it. I'm back in IE right now and it's killing me. Very odd.

For what it's worth, here's my cookie management setup in Opera. I've been using this for quite some time. Works for me:

(check) Enable cookies
(drop down box) Accept only cookies from selected servers
(drop down box) Do not accept third party cookies
(click Edit server filters)
(drop down box) Accept from server
... Add approved domains to the list.
(check) Display warning for illegal path

Of course sometimes sites don't give any indication they need to place cookies to function so it's just one more thing to think about (along with Popups on/off? Referral logging on/off?) when things don't work as expected at a "new" site visit. Happened to me at msnbc.com, which I, being a hard-core MSphobe, immediately assumed was a nefarious anti-Opera ploy. As the Knee Jerks?

I also use Opera File Explorer [searchengineworld.com] to edit cookies. It handles cache, history, and visited links as well.

ok - Opera not working again - very odd day. It works for about a minute then won't connect to WebmasterWorld but I can surf everywhere else. Interestinly as well, I just installed NS 7 and it won't connect to WebmasterWorld either. I think I'll go back to bed.

No... No progress. Its actually gotten worse!

I wanted to see if it was just my connection to the net, so I killed my cookies out of IE, and went to log back in. NO GO!

So now I can't use IE or Opera at home. :(

I loaded up Netscape 4.7 and signed right in.

I am getting prompts for cookies(the way I want it for now), from paypal, and sitepoint. But when I come here, I only get a cookie prompt for the WebmasterWorld logo image. None after that, or anywhere in the signin process.

(Gonna see now if I can break my PC at the office!)

edit... From my office I have logged out and back in with IE and Opera... This is really confusing me. And I'm the one people I know come to for answers!
