Where can I find a good service or website that will allow a client to update their website via a "Browser"?

It only has to be text only....

Have a look in www.aspin.com [aspin.com], and check out the Content Management Systems. Most of these use a browser based front end to facilitate the update of a site.

I know that TeamSite uses a browser based GUI for this, but it is expensive and requires a lot of development to customize.

I'm acutally looking for something that I could just provide a link to the FREE EDITOR...... Something like Anglefire but none of my clients know html, that's why they need me....

As simple as loging in, changing the text and pressing the update button....

Hit one of the script archives like hotscripts and look in the content management systems categories of your preferred cgi language. There are hundreds of free site based editors.

The question is, what do they need to create/update?
Pre-defined fields like the prices of products or the offer of the month? In this case I'd recommend a small custom-written script that shows a form to edit the fields and saves this in a database or flat text file.
Entire (formatted) text content of pages? Go for a content management system.
Images, or whole page designs with menus, tables etc? You'd probably have to give them FTP access and teach them to download, edit and upload with an app like FrontPage Express or Netscape Composer.
The entirely web-based free services are usually full of ads and the outcome will certainly look cheap and unprofessional ("Whee, this thing lets me include animated GIFs and rainbow lines!").

The site is for a DJ for a local radio station and she would like to be able to update her "news page" only.....

Maybe I should have been more specific about the USE.....

I'm not that good at installing scripts.....

There are a lot of specialized news posting scripts available... many for free. Like Brett suggested, check hotscripts.com or cgi.resourceindex.com for perl news scripts. Most of them should offer a web-based interface for entering new news items.

As for not being very good at installing scripts, there's really no better way to learn than to just do it a few times... and there's no time like the present to learn!

(Just be nice, and give your client a discounted hourly rate for the job, or 'write off' a few hours, if you spend too much time stumbling around in the dark trying to figure it out... ;) That's what I do when I need to learn something new for a client site.)
