I've been interested in this too (alongside faxes).

I know lycos does it etc......I'm just not sure about the "go betweens" required and how much it will cost :)

Hope someone has info!

We use simplewire - quite a bit of programming when we started out, but I think they have easier solutions now.

We have found some messages never get to their target, but from what I have heard it is like that with all sms - which is a bit worying.

I also saw, somewhere a BRILLANT idea - email to sms - where you email to <smsnumber@someurl.com> and it send it on. But I forget where. Anyone care to find it?

Dixon.

Dunno about UK, but in Spain you can send e-mails to
mobile-number@correo.movistar.net
Never failed for me.
Actually I don't know how to send them on my 5 year old mobile, LOL. My kids are petering me to get a new one 'cos of their embarassment. He He.

Dixon,

I looked at Simplewire.com and Clickatell.com - Simplewire looks like the best deal. Is it reliable as far as software uptime is concerned?

I've contacted a few people, I took a interest in the logo sites for cellphones. I wanted to do the same thing all the UK services were doing except in the USA. I was told they have special equipment which would cost 10k to get started.

As far as mobile email goes, the cell services have their own format, like Cingular Wireless services is phonenumber@mobile.mycingular.com (i think - i just called em up to ask and they told me)
