Trying to connect a PHP shopping cart to a MySQL Database

Does anyone know how to find the MySQL hostname. We are trying to connect our PHP based shopping cart to a MySQL database on a server running Linux?

Did you try "localhost"?

Yes, turns out the Host is not sure if he has the MySQL database configured right or not. He has never messed with it till now. Running Linux on a Cobalt Rack 4 server.... Any ideas...

Get another host. If they don't know, then how can you expect to rely on them during critical moments.

Im with BOL here if they dont know how THIER server is set up how are they going to provide you any support. Its not your script thats messed up. Its there service. It may hurt you in the short term but in the long run your going to be better off. Plus in the long run when something really bad happens are they going to be able to help at all?
