Just wanted to get a head start on the travel arrangements, as it gets expensive traveling overseas.

Brett,

whatever you do (and I am sure it will be the right thing), try and pick a hotel with good service, like The Thistle Bar (shame about the bathrooms/sinks)

(as for the costumes, this I gotta see)

If anyone that's going is an Irish musician, bring your instrument

Consider it done

Banjolin, Mandolin or Mandola or tin whistle - depending on the rest of my luggage.

Shak, that's the catch-22 of Boston. There are 4 star hotels reasonably priced all over downtown boston, but coming up with a pub the caliber of The York is near an impossible task. But, with this crowd of socialites, we could meet in a warehouse with a minibar and have just as much fun.

Don't need one! Singing "Molly Malone" sounds fine a capella, though the brogue does sound a litle funny with a Brooklyn accent.

Brett, "socialites" must be your euphemism for "alcoholics." ;)

I may or may not bring my fiddle. Depends upon where we land. Some pub sessions can be a bit snobby.

I'll bring my air guitar. The more I drink, the better I get.

If you let me know the key ahead of time, I can likely stay in it.... and I'm from Ireland...

does that count?

now. how to explain the guitar to the boss...

Most of the tunes I play (when I play) are in the keys of D or A.

But if you're from Ireland - I probably won't be able to keep up with you! :)

Nah, time for a new name altogether. Although everyone seemed to enjoy the pubcon/barcon name, it just didn't work - no one wants their product (including WebmasterWorld) to be associated with drinking, bars, or pubs. I certainly can't blame them. So the name is on the block.

I still think Pub stands for Publisher. WebmasterWorld Internet Publisher's Conference. :) WIMPCon for short, as someone pointed out.

But no matter how many suggestions people make for a name, Brett never makes up his mind. I will make plain white nametags reading [Fill In The Blank]Con :)

Just wondering if any further details are available for this event. I'm working on convincing my main client to sponsor my attendance (my chances got better since it won't be called BarCon!). They're getting off easy since I'm about twenty minutes from downtown.

Well, I am in the throws of actually doing some SEO work for a "client". Yes, someone is actually going to pay me to optimize their site! He said he has wondered for the last two years how my site kept coming up #1 to #3 in all his SE quiries. So he called me and I took advantage of the situation!

If I can swing it (getting away from the office is tough)... I am coming to the WebmasterWorld conference in Boston with bells on and my new "client" is going to fund my trip! :) :) :)

Don't know what I'll be wearing as all I own are shorts and t-shirts and if I recall, Boston is pretty darned cold at that time of the year! :( I suppose I can find a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt somewhere on this island!

Many thanks Bret, Dave, NFFC, Steve and all the rest! Second professions make for good fall back positioning in slow tourist markets ... although I haven't slowed down yet, but others have. ;)

How about "OPT-IN" ... otherwise know as "Optimize the Internet". A WebmasterWorld Conference for SEO professionals.

Got to run, he (my client) is walking in the door as I type ... guess that makes me an SEO "professional" now! Hehe. Who would've thunk it?

The Marketing conference for Webmasters
The Online Conference
The Yahooktomiogleastomasta conference
How to have a successful Online Business
The Online world: Marketing and Business

The Yahooktomiogleastomasta conference has a certain ring to it. Liane, congratulations on your new client. If it's "pretty darn cold" here in April I guess it's wicked cold now - though we're expecting a heat wave starting tomorrow when it goes above 200 fhr.

20 fahrenheit? :( I was in California in 1995 for the month of April and froze my butt off! Don't be surprised if you see someone dressed in an arctic parka and looking like Nanook of the North. My blood is so thin from year round temps of 80 to 90 degress that when it dips into the 70's (thankfully not that often), I have to break out my goose down duvet and footed jammies to sleep! :)
