Just a shot in the dark but if his wife happens to have his credit card info they could check where and when was the last time it was used?

I'm sure the authorities are already on this but it would narrow things alot more if anyone knew if he checked out of his hotel.

While I agree that it's in everyone's best interests to involve the media, remember that this is a shock to the family and it may take a little longer for them to see the situation as clearly as you do from where you stand. And anyway, I believe she has agreed that at least in the States to involve the media.

I think such speculation can be very hurtful to people who are going through hell right now. It probably wasn't your intention but put yourself in their shoes...

Personally I hope a mod removes that post and mine with no offense meant to anyone, just in the best interests of Ian and the family.

Lets not speculate. If you have information about Ians whereabouts, or have seen him since last saturday, please contact the authorities mentioned above.

Brett - is it OK to post his pic on an (air travel) website with a click to contact information or is this what the family wants to avoid? This would include many UK viewers.

I'll do the same, it might be a shot in the dark but it is better than no shot at all.

From his profile it appears that he may have been involved in some potentially sensitive Government work. Has anyone spoken to his MOD contacts who may have considerable clout if one of their own is missing.

In the thread [threadwatch.org...] eurotrash said Ian was going to do some tourist things - the ticket agent in the hotel lobby has a carbon copy name receipts of the people who bought tours if he bought the tickets there.

Hope that helps!

I saw Ian every day while in New Orleans. I left on Sunday, but didn't see him. Great guy, had lunch with him on Day One. I hope all is well with him.

i'm from georgia and have worked very closely in the past with the foriegn consulates with offices in Atlanta. the procedure here in georgia for a situation like this would be to contact the UK consulate, this would trigger the case to be in the jurisdiction of the GBI (Georgia Bureau of Investigation) instead of the local law enforcement.

it is my understanding the we don't know if he went missing in new orleans or atlanta, but either way i think the same procedure would apply to louisianna.

this is terrible and my prayers are with him and his family.

Get the word out that he has been found.

Get a final post into every thread and blog, otherwise we'll still be getting "help find Ian" emails well into the next decade as people start using the topic for their spam marketing purposes.
