In an unprecedented move, Google is sending a team of engineers to support WebmasterWorld’s World Search Conference, being held in June 21-24, 2005. Conference delegates can get involved in roundtable sessions with the Google engineers on specific subjects of interest. In addition, the event will feature an invitation-only cocktail party where conference delegates can meet the engineers on specific subjects of interest and relevance.

In keeping with its focus on bringing you the fastest and easiest way to find relevant information, Google is pleased to invite you to an interactive session with the people that make it all happen – Google Engineers. We are excited to be providing a forum for you to ask the most intriguing questions and for you to get equally, if not more, intriguing answers. We invite you to take advantage of this opportunity to come face to face with the people that make ideas and innovation come to life. As we go to work on themes and thoughts spanning "greater ROI", "less hassle", "more control" and "more inventory", we look forward to hearing from you about the same.

Google will have approximatly 10 search engineers at the reception to answer questions. Also, Matt Cutts of Google will be onhand at Thursdays super session Search Engines and Webmasters (aka: Search Engine Smack Down ;-) ) along with Tim Mayer (Yahoo!), Rahul Lahiri (Ask Jeeves), and Eytan Seidman (MSN Search).

I can’t make the Conference due to financial reasons (sites missing from Goggle for 5 months) – so can someone ask the Google Engineers when will those of us who applied for a re-inclusion request get a reply or a solution?

I'd ask about how Google.com wasn't showing at #1 for Google and why Adense was "hijacked".

Dc71, Google will send you a reminder to attend one week before the event. They are Google, don't expect a personal email. It will probably be the same email, sent to everybody. Just be there!

I'm going the main conference too, link above, the Tuesday-Friday thing, in the same hotel. I've already booked my room.

this pics thing looks good, there should be one for all conferences. As far as I remember, Brett said in one of his posts about picture galleries, that he is not doing official picture galleries because of some past issues. Someone privately may do it, as long as the people in the pics do not mind.

Brett is there anything for free to be seen at the conference? I will be spending 5 nights in Charity Hospital around that time with my wife having open heart surgery. I might get to sneak away for a couple of hours toward the end of her recovery. Prayers accepted!

Obviously, re-request inclusion, 302 redirecting, duplicate penalties, and page jacking, subjects that Google is very ambiguous about and make little comment on these forums are not relevant to you.

People appreciate questions that they are able to, and allowed to answer. We often forget that there are humans behind some of the algorithms and bugs in them. ;)

Nobody's going to ask how they will get scrapers under control? It seems like it's the other purple elephant (page jacking is the first) in the room that no one's talking about.

That would fall under 'less hassle', one of the things Google does want to address. Visitors are hassled by spam in the search results. I would ask about it, but I have other questions planned, more general questions.

It'll be 2 hours of questions and answers and then the cocktail party.

I'm respectful of the fact that the Google folks may not be free to answer/address specific items but this is a great opportunity for all to be frank and open about why results and many legitimate sites are suffering so much from the attempts to fix those problems.

If WebmasterWorld discussions are any indication of the importance of these issues to the broader web community I think Google should be very interested.
