Hello,

I noticed that some of my affiliates rank better than me after google change the nofollow policy of links so taht nofollow links give a hint which means they give little link juice I say.

So would it make sense to set affiliate links to rel sponsored or better ugc to prevent that? Moreover its important of course that you dont hurt your won site which maybe is the case if you have thousands of sponsored / ugc links?

What do you think?

Google knows what affiliate links are, it is half of their own business model. No reason to try to manipulate "link juice" of affiliate links, they are pretty dry. Even "nofollow" suggests you do not recommend the site they link to, but keep in mind that those links usually do not go to the merchant's site, they pass through the advertising network.

But there are many affiliates without 3th party network with direct links.

And: it is bad for the ranking to set all outgoing links to all external sites to nofollow?

Time to rethink decisions based on "Link juice": [webmasterworld.com...]
To quote Google's John Meuller:

I'd forget everything you read about "link juice." It's very likely all obsolete, wrong, and/or misleading. Instead, build a website that works well for your users.
