Spanish to English Translation

Any free translators that work?

I received an email which I think is in Spanish today from someone in South America. I can pick out enough words to know it is about one of my web pages.

Unfortunately, I don't know Spanish and the free transalators I've found on the web haven't worked too well. I don't think the emailer really wrote, "....is made by the university and I a.m. implementing it in my that you dog make contact with the enemy with the doctor ....Hoping this information helps you."

Does anyone know of a free translator that works pretty good (or at least maybe better than the one I've been using)?

I'm not sure which translator you've tried so far but Babelfish on AltaVista works pretty good.

Babelfish works fine but translates too litterally in my opinion. If the message is not too long sticky me and I can have a look at it.

babelfish is neat. As mentioned before, some of it is rather literal, but there are various colloquialisms in Spanish that differ from country to country that may not translate there. Of course, business letters tend to be in the most formal use of Spansish.

I'm bilingual, I do sites in Spanish content. Feel free to send me a dupe of the letter and I can give you a general translation.

Thanks wolfy and DXL for the advice and the translation offers. The online translator I used was the babelfish one, but I guess it just didn't work for this email. The email is kind of long, so I don't want to impose on either one of you to translate it for me. I have a friend from Mexico I'll see this week so I'll ask her to read it to me in English.

Babelfish actually uses a software called SYSTRAN, though its not free if you wish to buy the package, its alot fuller than AV's babelfish.

Babelfish on AV has a max word restriction or 150 words, that may be why you could do the trans, maybe break it up, and try again. Or use the other Chaps, who can turn it into queens english, rather than NLP translated english < which at best, especially if the text is off a technical nature is like pigeon english.

Translators don't work. They go through every word, look up that word in a dictionary, and then churn out a totally direct translation.

If you believe the email is important, I would suggest asking a linguist to translate it for you.
